 | The COINS Foundation seeks to work in genuine partnership to address the needs of the most excluded communities in Africa, the UK, and the USA. | | OUR VISION An inclusive global society in which everyone enjoys the benefits of a decent place to live, enough to eat, employment and prosperity, freedom under just government and the rule of law. |
| The COINS Foundation receives sponsorship for all of its costs. 100% of the money raised by teams participating in the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge goes to our project partners. In 2009, the Foundation is supporting the following projects with funds raised by the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge:< P> | | | | In upstate New York, the city of Schenectady is facing a crisis. More than 12,000 of its citizens live in poverty, including nearly 30% of the city’s children. The COINS Foundation is partnering with organizations to address the needs of those living in poverty: providing food and shelter for the homeless, connections to health services, life skills education, job hunting, and transportation assistance. | | | | | The city of Albany’s South End is in decline. Its people and businesses have been gravitating toward the suburbs for many years, leaving behind a struggling community with unusable vacant buildings, transient population, high crime rates, and little connection to employment opportunities. The City of Albany, NY has embarked on a revitalization project to bring back the South End and rebuild a vibrant, sustainable community. The COINS Foundation is sponsoring construction of decent homes to give low-income working families the opportunity to purchase a home, building a neighborhood that can work together to change the community. | | | | | Kawama is a poor rural community in Zambia. The 20,000 people living in this area struggle with 90% unemployment, almost universal sub-standard housing, high incidence of HIV/AIDS, and little to no access to education. Life expectancy in Kawama is 39 years. Over the next ten years, the COINS Foundation aims to coordinate a wide range of programs which will address the fundamental needs of the people at Kawama in the areas of health, social care, education, sanitation, and community development. Our goal is to build a truly inclusive and sustainable community. |
